The Gallery Host provides a welcoming, safe, and exceptional visitor experience by demonstrating genuine attentiveness to guest needs and inquiries related to collections and exhibitions, assisting visitors as they navigate the museum, and performing front desk duties and responsibilities in a friendly and professional manner. Gallery Hosts attend continuous cross-training sessions in four front-of-house areas: visitor orientation, in-gallery experience, collection and exhibition content, and safety training.
Essential Duties:
- Greets and welcomes all museum visitors with a friendly, professional, and positive demeanor. Front-of-house responsibilities include front desk ticketing and answering the phone.
- Attends to visitor needs and inquiries and provides tools to enhance their experience in the museum.
- Direct visitors to amenities in the museum, on campus, and in the immediate downtown Norman/Campus Corner area upon request.
- Complete all ongoing training, including but not limited to audience engagement, collection and exhibition training, visitor orientation, and safety training.
- Maintain knowledge and share information with visitors about collections, exhibitions, the building, and all museum offerings.
- Ensures procedures are followed for the safety of museum guests and artwork in all galleries and public spaces throughout the museum.
- Report anything unusual or out of place in all public spaces within the museum. Notify Manager immediately of any issues that require attention.
- Uphold Museum policies and respond to visitor issues with poise, respect, and diplomacy.
- Understand the museum's safety policies and emergency procedures and be ready, willing, and able to assist with evacuations and other emergency situations.
- Available to work a flexible schedule based on the museum's staffing needs, including availability on both weekend days and evenings as needed.
- May monitor and replace any gallery materials as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Skills:
Working knowledge of office procedures
Ability to use a computer and calculator
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work as a team member
Ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner
Must be detail oriented
Ability to multitask, be organized, and self-motivated
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
