Job Summary

The Honors Program Graduate Assistant will report to an Honors staff member and will provide leadership and support for EDI initiatives, social and educational programming, recruitment, and the implementation of Honors Learning Experiences.

1. Assist with the supervision of the team of Community Assistants and/or EDI Mentors. This includes:
• Attending weekly team meetings.
• Assisting with the planning, organization, and implementation of events.
• Attendance at events is expected (as possible).

2. Assist with overall Honors community engagement, including promotion of equity, diversity and inclusion through community building activities for the Honors Student Leadership Team and the Honors community.

3. Provide support for Honors Program recruitment initiatives, including attending recruitment events, meeting with prospective students, and organizing application materials.

4. Manage social media accounts.

5. Fulfill the role of Honors Facilitator for multiple sections of Honors Mindset Seminar.

6. Assist with data and spreadsheet organization for Honors Learning Experiences, including, but not limited to, Honors Contracts and Honors Research.

7. Provide support for Honors Program initiatives. Assist Director and other program staff on projects as needed.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$650/month


Required Qualifications

1. Undergraduate experience with an Honors Program.
2. Degree-seeking graduate student in good standing at Illinois State University in the following areas:
CSPA/ College of Business/ Communication/ Teaching & Learning/ Sociology/ Communication Sciences and Disorders/ Psychology/ Social Work
3. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Experience giving presentations to large and small groups.
7. Ability to work on multiple projects independently and with minimal supervision.


Work Hours

10 hours per week, typically scheduled Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm; occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
