Job Description

Orientation Coordinators are student workers who assist in the planning, implementation, and facilitation of New Student Orientation (NSO) during the spring, summer and fall semesters with an emphasis on event planning.

Orientation Coordinators must be living in Kansas during the summer of 2024 and must be available to work in-person throughout the summer.

Orientation Coordinators must be available for 3 hours per week from February - June 2024.  Hours will increase to 5 hours per week from July1 - August 9, 2024.

Orientation Coordinators must also be available for each of these dates and times in 2024:

  • First Year Mentor Interviews - Monday, February 19 - Friday, February 23
  • Fall New Student Orientation Development Days - Sunday, August 11 from 1 - 9 PM and Monday, August 12 -- Wednesday, August 14 from 9 AM - 5 PM each day.
  • Fall New Student Orientation - Thursday, August 15 - Sunday, August 18 - Plan on all day because time are currently TBD
  • NSO Debrief Meetings - August

Skills & Requirements

Orientation Coordinators need to be undergraduate students.  Orientation Coordinators will be able to demonstrate the following: initiative, leadership, excellent communication, confidence with public speaking, organization, independence, and professionalism.

Academic Requirements: must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and be in good standing with Friends University.

The days/hours for this position will vary week-to-week; the Orientation Coordinators can expect to participate in weekly meetings and must be available for the dates listed in the job description.
