Job Summary/Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the participant may work with an emphasis in communications, marketing, English, or photography, based on the applicant’s area of study, experience, and skill set. This includes creating blog posts, writing press releases and developing digital media content that support MOCA’s communications strategies.
Specific responsibilities might include:
  • Checking in with the Director of Communications each day
  • Completing assignments on time each week
  • Researching and writing blog posts and other assignments; posting to social media platforms, including coverage of some events
  • Representing MOCA Jacksonville at events inside and outside the Museum
  • Managing and updating a database of media contacts
  • Finding compelling and innovative ways to complete assignments
  • Maintaining accuracy in all communications
  • Creating social media content
  • Collaborates closely with the Communications & Marketing team on the creation of materials to support the Museum’s marketing strategies and communication needs to ensure maximum visibility for MOCA and its partnership with UNF;
  • Builds print materials working within the templates of the MOCA brand, creates social media graphics for marketing and communication initiatives;
  • Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current UNF student who is eligible and accepts Federal Work Study (FWS) funding.
Requirements:
  • Candidates should have advanced writing skills with excellent attention to detail in spelling, grammar, style, and accuracy
  • Candidates should have proficient photography skills; computer skills including Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office; and some experience with website editing and email marketing platforms
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Punctuality; dependability; and enthusiasm
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask
  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing creative strategies
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to follow through and meet deadlines while coordinating many current and long-range projects simultaneously
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Creative, energetic and fun

Time commitment: Normal shifts must occur between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Occasional Friday evening and Saturday daytime events and 5-9 p.m. during Museum Nights on the first and third Wednesday of each month will be negotiated depending on the candidate’s availability.
