Full-time Non-Tenure Track Research Assistant Professor

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences, College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor with a 9-month academic year appointment and 3-month summer appointment beginning August 2022. 

The successful candidate will lead and conduct research projects in applied climatology and product development within the Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC) and the Office of the State Climatologist of Texas (OSC), as well as participate in outreach and stakeholder support activities.   The successful candidate may also develop their own externally-funded research portfolio.

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences (https://atmo.tamu.edu ) has twenty faculty members with strengths in atmospheric dynamics, physics, and chemistry, as well as meteorology and climate studies. The department hosts the Center for Atmospheric Chemistry and the Environment and the Texas Center for Climate Studies in addition to the SRCC and OSC. We are one of four departments in the College of Geosciences (http://geosciences.tamu.edu ), and will soon become part of a larger College spanning the liberal arts and sciences.

Qualifications

Qualifications for this position include demonstrated experience in climate research.  Expertise in relevant thematic areas, including drought and water supply, coastal resilience, and weather/climate impacts on transportation, would be particularly beneficial. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a related field at the time of appointment.
