FT Lecturer - Department of Business Technology

The Department of Business Technology at the Miami Herbert School of Business, University of Miami is seeking a Full-Time Lecturer. Said colleague must have demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students in various areas of Business Technology.  Qualified candidates shall have: a terminal degree in Business/Information Technology or a related field and demonstrated excellence in pedagogy. Applicants will be required to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. All courses will be taught in person.

The Department is especially interested in candidates who can teach a variety of technical class including Python, Java, SQL and C++ programming. Candidates are also sought who can teach systems design, Tableau and Excel at a high level of proficiency. In addition to courses in Blockchain, Crypto-Token-based systems, AI, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing and Quantum computing. Instructors will be required to develop new syllabi for each new course they teach.

Responsibilities also include: Instruction of 8 courses (24 credit per academic year), Lecturing, leading class discussions and conducting other teaching activities during scheduled classes; creating, administering and grading using appropriate assessment methods;  holding office hours and providing additional support for students outside the class time periods; calculating and submitting grades for all students; collaborating with the chair and faculty of the Business Technology Department to create coursework or support the department’s mission; following established expectations and protocols for the department and to stay current in the field. Associated faculty are not expected to conduct research but this is an encouraged activity. Please note, the position is not tenured earning.
