JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Management and Organization (M&O) in the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University seeks a full-time Fixed Term Teaching Faculty of Management to start in the Fall of 2024. Fixed Term Teaching faculty in the Smeal College of Business have a primary focus on teaching and contributing to the teaching mission of the school by bringing business knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to the classroom and by advancing the goal of student-centeredness. A successful teaching record is therefore required. The desired candidate will hold a master's degree in management or an MBA or its equivalent.

Our immediate needs are in teaching our department’s in-person courses required of all Smeal majors (Principles of Management (MGMT 301); Socially Responsible, Sustainable and Ethical Business Practice (BA 342), which are taught in larger classroom settings (i.e., 150-200 students), and therefore preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching similar courses and/or in larger classroom settings.

Fixed Term Teaching faculty in the Smeal College of Business are hired on an annual contract, are expected to teach 21 credits per academic year (or its equivalent), and are eligible for promotion (ranks of Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, and Teaching Professor or Professor of Practice). 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual who will enjoy working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative departmental environment. The position is an ideal appointment for individuals wishing to concentrate on:

  • teaching courses in management and ethics in a business setting,
  • and performing related activities such as mentoring and advising students,
