Full-time Faculty Position – Clinical Chemistry

 

 

The Department of Pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a qualified M.D. and/or Ph.D. who will assist in directing the extensive, high complexity Clinical Chemistry and Core Laboratories located in the Laboratories of Pathology, University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. This position will be at the Assistant or Associate Director level based on the applicant’s clinical laboratory experience. The Assistant/Associate Director will be actively involved in clinical issues, such as, quality management, operational efficiency, point of care testing, and responding to clinical questions. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with academic rank and experience.

 

Required qualifications include Board certification/eligibility in Clinical Chemistry (American Board of Clinical Chemistry or equivalent) or Board certification in Clinical Pathology and a minimum of two years’ experience as a Laboratory Director, Assistant, or Associate Director. Experience in toxicology, mass spectrometry, clinical chemistry, immunoassay, molecular testing and point of care testing is necessary.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated interest and abilities in all areas of academic practice, including evidence of scholarly achievements and a potential for collaborative or independent funded research, as well as experience in teaching and training medical students, graduate students, residents, and/or fellows. A history of funded research, current research funding, or experience in developing and translating their discoveries into novel clinical applications is preferred.
