Position Summary Information
Objective | Provide the expertise and knowledge to teach non-credit and credit courses in the Construction Trades. This includes the use of: Building Materials, Hand and Power Tools; Implementing Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Site Layout; HVAC Equipment Installation and Repair; Plumbing and Water Purification Systems; Electrical instruments and Power Distribution; Materials associated with Facility Maintenance and Construction Management. |

Essential Duties | Teach non-credit and credit classes; continuously review curriculum and methods to improve the quality of instruction; use a variety of hands-on teaching methods to train adults; evaluate student progress and constantly communicate with students and Blinn administration; keep accurate student records and certification files; other duties as assigned |
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | An associate’s degree and at least three years of demonstrated competencies in the carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction management. Knowledge and experience in all phases of building construction; knowledge and experience with all tools required for building construction; ability to read blueprints and specifications to determine a work plan. |
Preferred Experience and Training | A bachelor’s degree in a related field, and at least five years’ work experience. Experience training carpenter helpers/apprentices; experience teaching adults in a classroom setting; a recognized certification in carpentry or construction trades. |
Physical Requirements | Ability to use a variety of hand tools and carpentry specific tools; able to climb ladders to heights of at least 20 feet; able to lift 50 pounds to a height of three feet; able to perform all normal and expected duties of a carpenter |
Required Degree, License or Certifications | An associate’s degree and at least three years of demonstrated competencies in the carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction management. |
Special Notes To Applicants | This is a 12 month, benefits eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits.
