Position :              Associate/Full Professor, Tenure-track.

Location :             Ithaca, NY, USA. The academic home for this position is the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), housed on the Ithaca campus of Cornell University.

Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is looking to hire a visionary and strategic leader in transdisciplinary research, convergence thinking, and innovation in food, agriculture and life sciences. The position is an initiative to leverage our existing strengths and transdisciplinary leadership in solution-based science. We seek an individual whose work explicitly addresses ongoing challenges that can be solved through digital agriculture, and who possesses a forward-thinking approach to integrating engineering, technology, biology, and agricultural sciences.

Position Description and Responsibilities :

We invite applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Associate/Full Professor level. The position involves 50% research and 50% teaching responsibilities. The successful applicant will conduct research that advances the college’s commitment to food and agriculture, life sciences, resource management, and biological and environmental engineering. To continue Cornell University's legacy of engaged scholarship, our new colleague will have a track record of and sustained commitment to meaningful collaboration with diverse communities, the integration of equity and inclusion in their work, and the promotion of knowledge in food and agriculture systems that serves the broader public good. Strongest consideration will be given to scholars with demonstrated research and teaching excellence in areas of food and agricultural systems such as (but not exclusive to): remote sensing and field data acquisition; connectivity for wireless data transfer; analytical algorithms/devices (e.g., using machine learning, and artificial intelligence) for data processing; sustainability of food and agricultural systems; food and agricultural management; improving urban landscapes and ecosystems; urban agriculture; and empowerment of Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and people of color in food and agricultural engineering. The successful candidate will join the faculty in the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering and engage collaboratively with nationally and internationally renowned academic units within Cornell University, including but not limited to the Department of Animal Science, the Department of Food Science, and the School of Integrative Plant Science in CALS , as well as aligned departments in the College of Engineering , the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability , and the Cornell Institute for Digital Agriculture .

Qualifications :

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a related field. An engineering degree is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a research program and a teaching curriculum in ways that leverage existing department strengths while building unique and collaborative opportunities and programs.

CALS hiring range for this position is:

Associate Professor: $97,500 - $148,500

Professor: $109,500 - $250,000
