Job Description:

The Office of Housing & Residential Services is seeking a student for employment. This position is funded by the University. All undergraduate students looking for employment are welcome to make application for this position. Please see below the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Supports the oversight and operation of the residence hall facilities.
  • Perform weekly walk-throughs of residential areas (Spring Close out, summer turns, Fall Opening). 
  • Supports all departmental training. 
  • Serves as a resource person, referral agent and advises students regarding personal, educational, behavioral, and residence hall concerns.  GA counsels students within the realms of training and refers students to appropriate campus services as needed.
  • Responsible for key management including: distribution and collection of keys, key inventory, and audit.   
  • Utilize proficiently departmental and university software, i.e. The Housing Director, Maxient, Asset Essentials, ID Credential/BASIS, Area Access Manager. 
  • Supports creating, implementing and maintaining the Housing Director Mobile site access for student staff.
  • Forwards and follows-up with work order requests, and is responsible for being familiar with issues and concerns.
  • Maintains accurate records to submit various reports as specified by Housing and Residential Services.
  • Assists with the implementation of the damage process for campus.
  • Participates in marketing efforts by the department, which may include participation in, i.e. Admission events. 
  • Support department assessment, benchmarking and reporting needs.
  • Support department professional development initiatives. 
  • Professional Staff-on-Call
  • Provide professional staff first responder support including weeknights/weekends.
  • Provided two weekends off during the period of the position (over the summer).  
  • Any additional time off is at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Create schedules to coordinate the tasks, roles and projects of summer student staff.  
  • Supports implementation of Health & Safety inspections with the assistance of the RA staff for campus.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Supervision:

  • Supervise summer student staff (i.e. Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs) and Special Project Assistants (SPAs). 
  • Hold weekly staff meetings
  • Coordinate and manage the summer student staff duty rotation
  • Conduct 1-1 meeting with staff as appropriate
  • Conference Support

  • Coordinate check-ins/check-outs.
  • Provide supplemental support to groups, i.e. parking directions, campus building locations, etc. 
  • Provide onsite support and direction for summer conference attendees.
  • Walk beds spaces after each check-out and before each check-in.
  • Provide  necessary sweep out of rooms when required. 
  • Process linens; including washing laundry, making beds, etc. 
  • Set-up each room as required by specifications; i.e. tvs, chairs, welcome bags, etc. 
  • Support cultivating new clients for conference opportunities.
  • Lead/Coordinate all check-ins and check-outs for clients. 
  • Coordinate/conduct building walk-throughs.
  • Create, maintain appropriate forms and documents on the website for conference and parking services.
  • Administer client service questionnaire.
  • Support all short-term and emergency housing requests. Maintain emergency housing supply kits.
  • Support and assist with conferences, drive-ins, retreats and workshops.
  • Ability to obtain  university van certification. 
  • Programming & Development

  • Create and implement academic skill base, social awareness and interactive programming. 
  • Manage programming budget provided.
  • Coordinate securing program resources in coordination with the supervisor.
  • Coordinate and conduct meetings (i.e. building, floor, room, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.  

  • Requirements:

    • The Summer Conference Coordinator may take 1 class (3 credits) during each summer session upon the approval of the supervisor. Approval must be received before accepting the position. 
    • Enrollment in a summer class is not required.  
    • Priority for the position is awarded to applicants with prior housing (or related) experience. 
    • Must be available for Conference Schedule dates arrival, in-house and departure. 
    • May request dates off as the Conference Schedule is made available. 

    *Please note that dates may shift on an event.

    Shift Information:  This is a full time undergraduate student only posting. $15 per hour.
