Job Description:

The Office of Center for Diversity and Inclusiveness is seeking a federal aid recipient for student employment. This position will be funded by federal work study dollars; only students that receive financial aid awards can be considered for this specific role. Ambassadors are undergraduate students who work in the Center for Diversity and Inclusiveness. Ambassadors are students who are passionate and excited about social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and involvement. The responsibilities of a CDI Ambassador shall include:

  • Collectively plan one educational or social program a semester.
  • Welcome all guests to the Center and ensure that guests are signing into the Center.
  • Manage the office space such as properly answering the phone and making sure the common areas of the office are clean.
  • Routinely check CDI email and redirect emails to the professional staff.
  • Connect faculty, staff, students, and visitors with the appropriate resources within our center or elsewhere on campus.
  • Maintain a respectable office environment which includes creating a sense of belonging for anyone visiting and or participating in CDI events.
  • Build relationships with the current student groups associated with CDI: Black Student Union (BSU), Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), Latin American Student Organization (LASO), African Student Association (ASA), the First Love Organization, and the Asian Student Association (ASO).
  • Keep social media accounts updated by sharing current and relevant information about office initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings and required training. 
  • Collectively plan one educational or social program a semester.

  • Requirements:

  • Must be currently attending Fitchburg State University as an undergraduate student
  • Must possess federal work-study funding
  • Must be willing to learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion issues

  • Additional Information:

    Shift Information:  You must be a full time undergraduate student to be eligible for this position. Eligible students may work up to 20 hours per week at $15 per hour. The Center's operating hours are from 8 AM - 9 PM (EST). Ambassador schedules will be determined based on availability and class schedules.
