Job Description:

Purpose: To assist Technical Director working in the Technical theater shop and McKay theater facilities. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Office of Communications Media is seeking a federal aid recipient for student employment. This position will be funded by federal work study dollars; only students that receive financial aid awards can be considered for this specific role. Please see below the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Maintain the scene shop appearance.
  • Maintain the hand tools in working conditions and their proper storage in cabinets. (Report to supervisor if any tools are damaged & in need of repair.)
  • Assist Technical Director returning set pieces and props to proper storage locations and facilities.
  • Assist Technical director in creating an inventory of all props and set pieces and tools.
  • Maintains single access control to the lab complex through the main door.
  • Prepares reports for faculty regarding any technical problems they are unable to resolve. Informs faculty of any security problems.
  • Makes sure the Scene Shop is clean and secure at the end of the shift. 8. Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

  • Requirements:

    Appropriate assistant should have a working knowledge of the hand tools & Theatrical lighting equipment & principles. They must follow EPA and OSHA regulations regarding use of equipment. A familiarity with organizational and inventory processes, as a good part of time will be spent organizing and creating an inventory of theater equipment. They should be able to assist Technical Director & students when needed. 


    Additional Information:

    Shift Information:  This is a student only posting and you must have Federal Workstudy money allocated to you in your financial aid package. Shift will vary based on student schedules and the pay is $15 per hour.
    Priority Review: Students currently enrolled in Communications Media and/ or Theater classes and students with appropriate equipment proficiencies listed on their application will receive priority review for this position.
