Job Description:

Purpose: 

To supervise students and faculty working in the Film / Video Computer Labs and soundstage facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Controls In/Out access to Film/Video Lab Complex by having students sign in and out on security lab form.
  • Trouble-shooting of equipment and programs in the Labs and are responsible for contacting their supervisor if backup support is needed.
  • Make periodic rounds of the Film/Video lab complex to verify security of equipment and to ensure the safe and proper use of equipment by the students.
  • Informs faculty of any security problems and Contact Campus Police if needed.
  • Maintain single access control to the lab complex through the main door.
  • Prepare reports for faculty regarding any technical problems that need to be addressed.
  • Alerts Campus Security to lock up lab complex at end of shift.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Requirements:

Lab Monitors are a critical line of support with the campus community and should therefore have a professional appearance, possess good interpersonal skills, be flexible and have a positive attitude. Appropriate applicants should have a basic working knowledge of equipment and must demonstrate competency with Photoshop, After effects, Finalcut Pro, Avid, and other software programs. They should be able to recognize common problems and correct them. They should recognize when software or hardware problems are more serious and to have the judgment to shut systems down when necessary. They should be able to assist students when needed. Punctuality is required. If unable to cover a shift, prior notice and/or arrangements must be made in advance.


Additional Information:

Shift Information:  This is a student only posting and you must have Federal Workstudy money allocated to you in your financial aid package. Shift will vary based on student schedules and the pay is $15 per hour.
Priority Review: Students currently enrolled in Communications Media classes and students with appropriate equipment and software proficiencies listed on their application will receive priority review for this position.
