The Academic Advising Unit in VPUE is seeking a Program Manager for the Frosh 101 Program. Frosh/Transfer 101 is a discussion style course designed to help first-year students transition to Stanford's dynamic campus. In Frosh/Transfer 101, approximately 10 first year students meet with upperclass students, who lead them through discussion as frosh learn more about their peers, themselves, and who they will be in this new environment. The goal is to build the foundation for a strong community that is inclusive of diversity and promotes emotional and social wellbeing. The program is in its 5th year and continuing to grow, with enthusiastic support from VPUE and Stanford Leadership. The Program Manager supports the curricular development, course scheduling, hiring and training of undergraduate leaders, and contributes to broader First Year Experience team needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Represent the program with campus partners and external stakeholders in the director’s absence if need be
  • Meet with, recruit, and mentor, future student leaders (TAs and coleads), building rapport with students for continuity of Frosh 101 and Transfer 101
  • Help plan and host info sessions for interested student leaders
  • Manage Canvas for UAR 194A/B: making announcements, posting content, following up with absent students
  • Review curriculum, collaborate with director on updates
  • Collaborate with director on new curriculum for workshops and Approaching Stanford info sessions
  • Co-lead workshops and info sessions
  • Administrative duties, including dealing with student worker contracts & payment,  create course sections on Axess, and track section enrollment
  • Provide additional programmatic support, especially to the broader FYE Team - the Leland Scholars Program, New Student Programs, and Transfer Advising.
  • Provide consulting advice to internal and external organizations, act as subject matter expert in a specialized field.
  • Contribute to development of staff training programs.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management
  • Advanced analysis and problem solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience
  • Understanding of financial transactions
  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations

In addition, preferred requirements include:

  • Master’s Degree in Education with a background in student leadership and development
  • Demonstrated experience and a deep commitment to working with and supporting students representing diverse identities
