Job Description Summary:
The Frontiers DEI Navigator is part-time (.50 FTE) position within the (WH) function and Translational Workforce Development (TWD) function. Supporting and harmonizing WH and TWD efforts across Frontiers cores, functions, partners, and stakeholders will be the primary focus for this role.
Frontiers Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is supported by a five-year, $27 million grant from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH); we are in our third cycle (2022 – 2027) of funding. We are a consortium of academic medical centers and healthcare systems, members include The University of Kansas, The University of Kansas Health System, Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City, University of Missouri – Kansas City, Kansas City University, Kansas State University, and St. Luke’s Hospital. Frontiers is part of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program, a national network of approximately 60 medical research institutions that work together to translate scientific discoveries into advances in patient care. We recently created the Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) position to help with initiatives.
Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Work Experience:

  • Experience creating and delivering educational or professional development programs, presentations, workshops, training and/or events.

  • Experience and working knowledge of Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree

Work Experience:

  • Previous work experience in healthcare, medical and social sciences, or medical industries.

  • Two or more years’ experience with DEI initiatives.

Skills

  • High level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, hospitality, and discretion.

  • Able to effectively manage high-volume workload and complex priorities.

  • Self-directed, action oriented, superior attention to detail, strong organizational skills.

Job Duties:

  • Support the overall administrative functions for Workforce Heterogeneity (WH) and the “Recruit/Train/Retain” Workgroup.

  • Work with Frontiers partners to gather and track faculty, student, trainee, and other relevant annual demographic data to be used to create the CTSU annual report.

    • Develop reports and establish/maintain a data dashboard on the Frontiers webpage.

  • Serve as a liaison to all Frontiers cores in guiding development and implementation of WH initiatives.  

    • Develop and maintain a database of relevant WH activities across partners and help to implement integration of those activities within Frontiers when appropriate.   

  • Partner with cores and work groups to track data relevant to WH within Frontiers to guide WH initiatives and activities.

  • Work with Frontiers Communication Specialist to create and maintain the WH webpage, and overall communications relevant to WH.   

  • Work with WH leaders to support the development, implementation, and tracking outcomes of WH initiatives.

  • Support educational content development for the Frontiers Training Center specific to research inclusion, workforce diversity, and health disparities research.

    • Identify relevant educational and training activities among partner institutions for integration within Frontiers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
