Freelance Writer/Editor (Part-time) - Georgetown University's Office of Advancement

The Office of Advancement is seeking a Freelance Writer/Editor, who will provide writing and editing services to OA Communications on an as-needed basis. The writer/editor may contribute a wide range of writing/editing/proofing services, in areas including but not limited to: news, features, gift announcements, and stewardship writing.

This is a part-time, as- needed position.


  • At least six years of professional writing/editing experience OR bachelor’s degree (in English, communications, journalism, or related discipline) plus three years of professional writing experience required.
  • Strong preference for professional writing/editing experience in journalism, higher education, or philanthropy.
  • Ability to complete assignments at a high quality level with minimal oversight
  • Ability to adapt voice and tone for different channels, media, and audiences
  • Willingness and ability to take on a wide range of assignments
  • Experience working with style guides, such as AP and Chicago
  • Experience producing high-quality work on deadline
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience working in content management systems (e.g. WordPress)
