Overview of Founding Director, Center for Public Executives

Northwest Indiana is a region with both a proud past and a bright future. However, it is currently experiencing a prolonged period of stagnation and/or decline which highlights the difficulties inherent in shifting from the heavy-industry based 20th century past to a more sustainable and diversified 21st century future. In NWI, a number of organizations deal with this shift in some way. The Center for Public Service Executives seeks to be a resource to leaders of these organizations by providing professional development opportunities and resources for their benefit. To that end, the College of Business at Purdue University Northwest is seeking the inaugural Director of its Center for Public Service Executives to aid in the development and implementation of the center and its activities.
This Director position has the flexibility to work in a hybrid work environment.  In addition, Purdue University Northwest sits between Chicago’s skyscrapers and Lake Michigan’s sandy shores.  You can have all the perks of a world-class city just a half hour drive away or enjoy the natural beauty of the Indiana Dunes National Park and Lake Michigan just 15 miles away.


Duties and Responsibilities of Director, Center for Public Service Executives
  • Oversee the Center of Public Service Executives (CPSE) functions, processes, and activities
  • Engage with nonprofit and public sector entities throughout NWI to (a) maintain an understanding of the environments in which they operate and (b) their professional development related needs
  • Maintain customer relationships among program attendees
  • Obtain funding to support the Institute's budget

Experience of Center for Public Service Executives
  • Five years' experience in the administration of academic programs within higher education
  • Preferred
    • demonstrated experience with implementing successful initiatives
    • fundraising experience

Education of Director, Center for Public Service Executives
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration or related business discipline.
