Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Development Intern will support Foundation staff members in organizing and executing fundraising and engagement events across the university as well as in the community. The intern will play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships between the university and its donors and alumni while generating financial investment and dynamic engagement opportunities in support of its mission, programs, research and academic initiatives. Evenings and weekends may be required.
The Fairmont State Foundation is responsible for the fundraising activities that support Fairmont State University. This work includes annual giving programs, major gifts, corporate relations, planned giving, print and electronic donor and alumni communications, donor and alumni information services for the University’s five colleges and athletics department, gift management and reporting, and donor engagement events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accompany Foundation staff to various donor engagement events. Assist in the setup, execution, recording, and tear down of the event.
  • Act as a representative on behalf of the Foundation at various events.
  • Assist Chief Financial Officer with data entry, filing, and other administrative work.
  • Assist with donor relations projects including annual impact reports for donors, mailing of invitations, cards, and other communications.
  • Support Foundation staff with special projects and perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Fairmont State student enrolled in business administration or related field of study
  • Experience with social media tools and techniques
  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills – proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Flexibility, able to easily respond to evolving requests.

Occasional lifting of 15 to 20 lbs.
Extended working hours may be necessary.
