Job Summary
Eastern Washington University is currently recruiting for a Food Services Supervisor 1. This position supervises food service employees in our Dining Services operations, special events, or catering locations. The position is responsible for food service production in a large scale production kitchen.
  • Duties include scheduling and managing food service staff,
  • Participation in all aspects of food production and service of food,
  • Cash handling, cleaning/sanitation, and customer service.
  • This position will assist in training new staff and teaching food service techniques and processes.
  • The selected candidate may receive off campus training to meet franchise certifications and must be able to meet all EWU franchise uniform requirements and personal hygiene standards.
  • This position will be assigned to our on-campus Panda Express store.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position requires a valid food handler’s permit and a driver’s license.
  • This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • This position must meet Panda Express training expectations, franchise uniform requirements (uniforms are provided) and personal hygiene standards.
  • This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), partial-year career position that is eligible for full EWU benefits.
  • During the course of university employment this position will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
  • All new employees will comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Food Handlers Permit
  • Washington State Drivers License
  • Two years of previous food service experience
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous college or university food service experience.
  • Supervision/lead experience in a high volume food service location.
  • Previous Panda Express experience.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: practices, methods, and procedures of large-scale food preparation and servicing; personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions; care and use of kitchen utensils and equipment; record keeping, report preparation; personnel functions.
