DRH Food and Nutrition Department is seeking to fill Full-Time and Part-Time positions: Food Service Associate, Patient Menu Technicians, and Food Production Associate (Grill or Cook)

Candidate will be schedule for 20 minute onsite interviews with department hiring managers by invitation only.

Food Production Associate (Grill or Cook)

Work Performed:

Level I

  • Perform a variety of routine and intermediate tasks in the preparation of food stuffs
  • Interpret recipes, cook and assemble large quantities of food for hospital cafeterias and/or patient food service.

Level II

  • Perform a wide variety of intermediate and complex tasks in the preparation of food stuffs.
  • Interpret recipes, cook and assemble large quantities of food for hospital cafeterias and/or patient food service.
  • Assume lead worker duties as directed. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Experience

Level I

    • Work requires one year institutional food preparation experience.

Level II

    • Work requires two years institutional food preparation experience.

Food Service Associate

Work Performed:

Level I

  • Perform routine tasks and manual work under immediate supervision in support of hospital food service operations;
  • Operated machine; wash pots and perform heavy cleaning duties; transport equipment, food, supplies, and refuse as directed.

Level II

  • Perform a variety of tasks in preparation, service and delivery of food products and/or service operations (ie. prepare, mix, assemble, portion, serve and store food as directed;
  • Receive inspect, store, secure disburse and control inventory of foodstuffs, supplies and equipment). Also may function as a cashier when directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Experience

Level I

    • No previous food service experience required.

             Level II

    • Work requires six months of food service experience.

Patient Menu Technician

Work Performed

  • Visit patients on assigned floors upon admission to explain menu process and collect diet preferences.
  • Visit patients to obtain their menu selections and input selections into hand held computer.
  • Determine food preferences for patients on routine modified diets.
  • Order additional food items as necessary.
  • Maintain and calculate appropriate patient data according to established guidelines.
  • Deliver food trays and supplements to patients.
  • Compare trays to patient census, checking for accuracy and correcting when necessary.
  • Ensure proper food temperature by properly assembling and delivering patient trays.
  • Detect and report improperly prepared food to supervisor immediately.
  • Revisit patients after passing trays to assure patients are satisfied.
  • Collect all trays from patients after meal service and transport to dish room.
  • Accurately record all items delivered to the floor.
  • Clean and maintain galleys according to established cleaning procedures.
  • Follow all safety procedures for using equipment and chemicals.
  • May assist in tray line set up, ensuring that quality standards are maintained and safe food handling guidelines are adhered to.
  • May assist in the care and maintenance of work areas and alert supervisors to problems as they arise.
  • Review and verify accuracy of diet order and allergen information by contacting appropriate source of information if records indicate potential discrepancies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Experience 

    • 1 year food service experience with customer contact, preferably in a patient care setting.
