4:00 pm -12:30 am (second shift); Sunday – Thursday with ‘on-call’ designation.
This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) at the Journey level with a specialty in HVAC. The position is to be a fully functioning in a particular trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and desiqn of facility components in assiqned zone or core maintenance.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties
  • Specialty in HVAC and fully functioning in a particular trade area.
  • Ability to perform all general maintenance work.
  • May also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline.
  • Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in the Housing Shop.
Other Work Responsibilities
  • Working professionally in and around students, faculty and staff.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Associates Degree in HVAC/R or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Knowledge of trade tools and equipment in Facility HVAC
  • Residential HVAC/R -w/ Heat Pump Experience
  • Light Commercial HVAC
  • Computer Skills – Proficient in work order systems, and Microsoft Applications, Google Suite.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
  • EPA 608 Certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Valid Drivers License or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
