Description

 

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.  

Performs floor care, maintenance and finishing duties. Cares for a variety of surfaces including carpet, tile, stone, vinyl and wood. Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. Uses assigned communication device.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:

  • Performs floor maintenance and finishing duties. Cares for a variety of surfaces in an effective manner to avoid damage.  Performs heavy stripping, burnishing, scrubbing and waxing and finishing of hard flooring materials. Shampoos, extracts and spot cleans carpeted surfaces and rugs. Operates high and low speed floor machines.
  • Takes great care to safely move and protect furniture and fixtures prior to cleaning. Replaces items back to original position after work is completed.
  • Maintains and operates equipment and performs duties in a safe manner to prevent injuries to people and facilities. Reports needed flooring repairs, safety hazards or conditions requiring additional service.  Monitors equipment use and performs basic maintenance. Reports equipment that requires repair.
  • Attends team meetings.  Uses assigned communication device to respond to regular and urgent requests.
  • Completes tasks independently and works with others as assigned to perform duties in a safe manner. Actively participates in ongoing training to maintain professional cleaning skills.
  • Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. (Subject to change to meet the needs of the University).

 

Starting Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $17.92 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)

 

Qualifications

 

High school diploma or equivalent preferred and six (6) months of experience in a commercial, institutional or education setting, including experience operating floor care equipment (burnishers, strippers) required.

MVR:

Preferred, not required – Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

 

PERSONAL:

Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:

  • Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
  • Climbing stairs
  • Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and extensive walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Working within extreme temperature ranges.
