FLEET SERVICES (BA-MOTR-IUBLA)

Fleet Services is the full-service, fleet management organization at Indiana University. We provide vehicle and equipment rentals, leases, maintenance, fueling, and manage micro-transit van services for IU Bloomington, and fleet program assistance for the IU regional campuses. Our team is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, cost-effective and sustainable transportation solutions for our customers to support the mission of Indiana University. 

This position provides specialized support to Fleet Services in cleaning and preparation of rental vehicles.  The responsibilities include fueling, inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining a group of university vehicles that are used by faculty, staff, and students for university business travel on a daily basis.  

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, ensures the Indiana University rental fleet vehicles are prepared for service for daily reservation usage.
  • Takes appropriate action to ensure the safety of themselves and others, reporting safety issues upon inspection.
  • Automotive detailing for departmental vehicles and light preventive maintenance on vehicles is also required.

General Responsibilities

  • Refuel university vehicles, maintain tire pressures, check/refill vital fluids, wash and vacuum vehicles.
  • Deliver and pick up university vehicles from local maintenance/repair facilities.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance logs. 
  • Drive customers on an as needed basis. 
  • 24-hour a day emergency response as needed.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on light duty vehicles, including oil change, tire rotation and multi-point inspection.  
  • Removes and/or installs items on vehicles such as seats, bed covers, or hitches.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 1 year customer service experience

Preferred

  • 1 year light automotive maintenance and driving experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required

Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University Upon Date of Hire

Preferred

  • Valid CDL Upon Date of Hire
  • ASE Light Duty Maintenance Certification

This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. This role requires the ability to lift 50. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This is an AFSCME union covered position

Bloomington, Indiana

Monday- Friday; 6:00AM - 3:00PM. Some weekends may be required. Overtime opportunities available.
