Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Fitness Coordinator · Do you thrive in a continuingly evolving student focused environment? · Do you have experience advising and mentoring students? · Do you enjoy building relationships with students, faculty and staff and collaborating across campus to create impactful programming, workshops and training? · Do you have passion for fitness operations, fitness equipment, and wellness education? · Would you like to be part of a team dedicated to enhancing career readiness skills for students? Look no further! We want you in the Division of Student Affairs as our Fitness Coordinator! Day to day will look like… · Working with Campus Recreation staff and students to manage the development, coordination, and administration of fitness operations across multiple facilities. · Hire, train, schedule & supervise up to 60 fitness student employees. · Provide recreational opportunities to the USC community. · Assist in risk management standards for all fitness programs and services. · Assist in fiscal oversight of a budget over 100,000 in operations expenses. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. May graduates will be considered if they will be able to obtain their degree by the date of employment. Must possess a current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification or acquire within 90 days of hire date. This position requires a variable work schedule. Early mornings, evening & weekend hours will be required. In addition, this position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies. This position will also support the University’s mission and goals through participating in recruitment and retention activities, as appropriate, for prospective and current students. |
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, Facility Management, Student Services Experience or related field, 1 year related experience. Current applicable fitness certification(s) (Group Exercise Instructor, Personal Training or Strength and Conditioning) from an accredited national organizations (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM). Must possess a current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification or acquire within 30 days of hire date. Relevant experience in general fitness management oversight. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Experience in student and staff supervision and programming administration, as well as conflict resolution, ability to assist the entire fitness team through management in group exercise, personal training, and help assist run fitness workshops. |
Job Duties
Job Duty | Manage the development, coordination, and administration of fitness operations across multiple facilities which include fitness assistants, fitness leaders, oversight of fitness equipment and repair and replacement of equipment. Provide innovative recreational opportunities by collaborating with key campus offices, based on current trends, which meets the needs of the USC community. Additionally, this position will be accountable for contributing to a positive, friendly work environment that encourages, enhances and demonstrates collaboration, teamwork, professionalism and equity among staff, students and patrons on a daily basis |
