Position Details:

The Opportunity
As the Fiscal & Operations Specialist you will provide operational, administrative, and fiscal support for the WSU Alumni Association. You will record fiscal activity, administer building rentals, reconcile purchasing functions, maintain revenue accounts, prepare reports, and respond to customer requests. Additionally, you will support the mission of the WSU Alumni Association by engaging with alumni, parents, students, and friends providing customer service and assistance with alumni programs, operations, and events. As well as exercising independent judgment in interpreting and applying rules and regulations to resolve problems and independently recommend courses of action.


This is an open rank recruitment. Depending on your level of experience, you may begin as a Fiscal Technician 2, Fiscal Technician 3, or Fiscal Specialist 1.

Required Qualifications

Fiscal Technician 2:

  • High school graduation or equivalent; one year of general clerical or fiscal experiences; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with numbers and/or data.

  • Experience entering data into spreadsheets, a database, or enterprise system.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

Fiscal Technician 3:

  • High school diploma, or GED certificate AND fifteen quarter hours or ten semester hours of college-level accounting or bookkeeping AND two years of full-time experience as a Fiscal Technician, or equivalent, including experience using accounting-related software; An Associate of Arts Degree, or equivalent, in accounting or business may substitute for one year of required experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with numbers and/or data.

  • Experience entering data into spreadsheets, a database, or enterprise system.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while also demonstrating collegiality and teamwork.

Fiscal Specialist 1:

  • Three (3) years of fiscal experience or equivalent experience such as operations that includes fiscal experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with numbers and/or data.

  • Experience entering data into spreadsheets, a database, or enterprise system.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while also demonstrating collegiality and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

Fiscal Technician 2:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while also demonstrating collegiality and teamwork.

  • Experience coordinating operations and events.

Fiscal Technician 3:

  • Experience coordinating operations and events.

Fiscal Specialist 1:

  • Experience coordinating operations and events.

Monthly Salary:

Fiscal Technician 2: $2,940 - $3,883 (Step A - M) | Range 34

Fiscal Technician 3: $3,075 - $4,072 (Step A - M) | Range 36

Fiscal Specialist 1: $3,376 - $4,497 (Step A - M) | Range 40

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 .
