Job Description

Accounting Assistant

Reporting to the Fiscal Manager, the Fiscal Assistant will be responsible for the daily accounting, reconciliation, reporting and financial processing to support Boston College's Auxiliary Services multi-department operations. Specifically, the Fiscal Assistant will create and maintain various electronic financial spreadsheets and databases used in the monthly and annual accounting cycle; will assist with executing essential procedures and processes for daily cash accounting, debit card accounting, inventory entries, accounts payable and communication with various vendors and customers. In addition, will provide financial support to the Department of Event Management for the billing and financial reconciliation of events held on campus via event management software (EBMS). Also, will interact and liaise with other departments on campus and external customers to settle billing issues as well as the Controller's Office on questions regarding proper journal postings and accounting transactions.

Hiring Range: $22.67/hr to $28.34/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting.
  • Three years of experience with accounting, preferably with exposure to a retail business or event services environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Access.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of financial accounting systems, specifically PeopleSoft Financials and experience with general ledger inquiry, account reconciliation and transaction processing.
