General Information
James Madison University’s School of Integrated Sciences (SIS) is searching for a Fiscal and Administrative Assistant to serve as part of their team. The successful candidate will support the overriding vision by providing administrative and clerical support for SIS. Primary focus areas are fiscal support for department budgets, along with providing clerical assistance in purchasing goods and services according to JMU policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide financial support, purchasing, budget tracking, and related services for the School of Integrated Sciences’ department budgets.
  • Act as a liaison between faculty and the Foundation and Madison Trust to ensure that all implementation and reporting requirements are conducted in accordance with established guidelines of James Madison University.
  • Procure goods and services using department funds, including eVA (web-based state-required procurement tool) purchases and small purchase credit card transactions.
  • Equipment Trust Fund (ETF) Procurements.
  • Provide clerical support for the department programs: Geography, Intelligence Analysis, and ISAT.
  • Project manage initiatives, including event planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to interact professionally with the university’s faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service experience.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a comprehensive filing system and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with processing guidelines and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and willingness to assist others.

Additional Considerations
  • Administrative experience in higher education’s academic environment is beneficial, but not required.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
