First Graduate Development Intern, FWS Off-Campus

Job Summary:

First Graduate works with students who would be the first in their families to graduate from college. We make a 12 year commitment to students starting the summer after their 6th grade year. First Graduate is seeking highly motivated and passionate college advisor interns for the 2022-2023 school year. After orientation and training, college advisors will provide individual coaching to middle school students around academics and the high school application process, and provide some support to the First Graduate after school program.

Full Job Description:

Daily Roles/Responsibilities  

  • Partner with the Community Engagement Manager to identify opportunities for growth with branding and marketing. (50% of the time, virtual)

  • Support in development of written and audiovisual content for FG social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, and Tiktok) and for websites using Canva, Capcut, iMovie, and many others.

  • Monitor progress of campaigns and social media channels using web analytic tools (Buffer, LinkTree, any other)

  • Look for the latest trends online, making sure that we are keeping up with public shifts in media. 

  • Support with specific projects (20% of the time, virtual)

  • Implement strategy for gathering stories from students, boards, staff, community/corporate partners and volunteers. 

  • Create and maintain a system to share story content between departments. And independently set and conduct interviews.

  • Write stories about our community and collaboratively work with a copywriter to create blog stories for our websites, twitter, Facebook, Instagram, newsletter, etc. (Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is also helpful.)

  • Knowledge of computers, internet access, mailchimp, slack and technical issues is helpful, and training will be provided.

  • Provide planning and assistance with event implementation timelines for recurrent and annual events. 

  • Implement  procedures for integrating new events information into Salesforce database (training will be provided)

  • Help develop event resources for our programs team

  • Research and identify community/organizations that should be engaging with us in our events. 

  • Professional Development (20% of the time, virtual)

    • Opportunites to collaborate with other interns and staff in the program on ways to continuously improve in the role. 

    • Participate in all development trainings staff has access

Desired Qualities and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 

  • Familiarity with GoogleSuite, Slack, Buffer, Salesforce and Jira (training provided)

  • Internet connection with a quiet place to work

  • Familiarity with facilitating Zoom meetings is a plus

Length of Program and Compensation: 

  • $19/hour 

  • Approximately 10-12 hours/week 

  • Start Date: end of August

  • End Date: mid-May 

  • Preference will be given to candidates who are available between approximately 9:30am-12:30 at least 2 days a week Mon-Wed (It could include Thrusdays, we are flexible with the days)

Location: 

  • Programming will be hybrid model but interns are able to work remotely
