As a Fire Department Nurse Educator, you will be a key member of the Fire Department & Law Enforcement Continuing Education and Quality Improvement Division within the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine. You will play a vital role in helping to maintain the certification and licensure of EMTs and paramedics. You will ensure compliance with the LA County Department of Health Services, conduct pilot studies, and promote related best practices. This position will involve providing continuing education, quality improvement, and coordinating ride-a-longs for a variety of fire departments and law enforcement agencies throughout Los Angeles County. We’re seeking a self-motivated, independent professional with: * Current certification as a registered nurse with LACO Mobile Intensive Care Nurse * Five or more years of experience in a critical care setting * Two or more years of experience as a LACO Mobile Intensive Care Nurse * Previous experience as a prehospital care coordinator for a base hospital preferred * Healthcare-related Bachelor’s degree is desired * Previous teaching experience in emergency medical services or a related field * Expertise in coordinating education courses or time management/organizational skills * BLS/ACLS certification * American Heart Association instructor certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS a plus * Ability to drive a personal vehicle to off-campus locations UCLA Health is a world-renowned health system with four award-winning hospitals and more than 270 community clinics throughout Southern California as well as the David Geffen School of Medicine.   • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Required: 1. Current certification as a Registered Nurse with Mobile Intensive Care Nurse. 2. Five (5) years’ experience in a critical care setting. 3. Two (2) years’ experience as a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse. 4. Previous Prehospital Care Coordinator for a base hospital (preferred). 5. Baccalaureate degree in health related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (preferred). 6. Minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in emergency medical services or equivalent health care setting. 7. Previous experience coordinating education course or time management and organizational skills. 8. Current provider certification in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association. 9. Current instructor certification from the American Heart Association in BLS, ACLS and PALS (preferred). 10. Completion of NAEMSE/NHTSA EMS educator course, Firefighter 1A/1B, or American Heart Association “Core” instructor course. 11. Detailed knowledge in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective objectives required for EMTs and Paramedics. 12. Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies. 13. Working knowledge of the different scopes of practices for EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians. 14. Excellent communication and presentation skills. 15. Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts. 16. Available to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends. 17. Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment. 18. Skill in working independently and following through with minimal direction. 19. Skill in working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues. 20. Valid unrestricted California drivers’ license.
