Job Description:

Position Qualifications :

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 1year successful wait service experience in fine dining environment, private club preferred.

Demonstrated positive and outgoing guest relations skills.

Demonstrates speed and accuracy in performing cash transactions and in operating the CTC, POS computerized system.

Ability to train. Highly organized.

Read, write and communicate in English to accomplish the duties and responsibilities required of this position. 

Ability to operate assigned equipment correctly and safely.

Possess a willingness to promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.

Ability to handle complex duties, anticipate needs and juggle multiple tasks.

Demonstrates leadership skills in the prioritizing, assigning and monitoring of work flow.

Demonstrated proficiency in all tasks of Food Service Worker

ServSafe Alcohol certification required.

Physical Requirements:

High manual dexterity (quickness, accuracy and safety).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to stand for extended periods; walk; sit, bend; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl use hands to finger, handle, slice, dice, chop, or feel objects, knives, tools or controls on kitchen equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; smell, talk or hear.

Must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

Push and/or pull carts weighing up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must consistently utilize all Personal Protective Equipment per Brown Dining Services guidelines

Must wear a cut resistance glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument.

Ability to work in tight spaces, for extended periods of time and sometimes working in hot, humid and/ or cold conditions.

Task Description:

Provide food and related services for our membership and the university community.  Deliver exceptional service. Achieve and ensure maximum guest satisfaction for all events and a la carte service.

  • Greet, seat, and service guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Accurately answer all questions related to menu items and foods served.
  • Stay proactively knowledgeable about recipe ingredients and daily availability items.
  • Assign tasks to assigned personnel.
  • Train, monitor, support and work with assigned personnel to assure timely completion of tasks.
  • Consistently model leadership skills. sell when appropriate.
  • Record all transactions accurately into CTC computerized POS system. Collect payment for all transactions, accurately accounting for cash and other tender. Close out POS system after meal shift upon request of Manager on Duty.
  • Assure all food is served at the proper temperature.
  • Monitor service flow and timing and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform any finish production or garnish to product being served.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work areas and complete all side work efficiently and with precision.
  • Monitor shopping list items and prepare reorder list. Assist with monitoring par stock levels of linen.
  • Polish silver, clean glassware, level tables, fold napkins, fill condiments, stock service bar, cut fruit, make cold beverages, clean coffee area, and perform other side work without direction.
  • Set up rooms for events or a la carte, vacuum, and remove any related furniture as needed, requested or stated on the BEO.
  • Clean and present rooms with all items as listed on the BEO or as instructed.
  • Practice and observe departmental standards for safety and sanitation.
  • Receive, store, and sign for deliveries. Adheres to FIFO policies.
  • Assist with guest confirmation calls, phone coverage, and organization of audio-visual materials.
  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance always wearing proper uniform.
  • Practice teamwork and treat all co-workers with respect in all activities and tasks.
  • Perform other tasks as requested to ensure exceptional services.
