Job Description:
The College at Brown University oversees academic advising for all undergraduate students, collaborating with faculty and staff across the University to support students’ academic progress and success. Financial advising is a critical component of the College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, designed to provide dedicated, holistic advising and programming around intersecting financial, academic and personal issues to Brown undergraduates who have the highest demonstrated financial need. Within this context, the Financial Wellbeing Program Advisor will serve as part of the College’s academic advising team to provide holistic advising and support programs to undergraduates, primarily those with high demonstrated financial need.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Financial Advising, the Financial Wellbeing Program Advisor will provide students with advising, in close partnership with the Office of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services, around financial issues that may intersect with academic, social, and personal circumstances. The Financial Wellbeing Program Advisor also manages daily operations of assigned emergency grant funds and applications and oversees related financial wellbeing-related programs. Working closely with campus colleagues to process, deliver, and report on these awards, the Advisor will assist with identifying the hidden costs of a Brown education and propose programmatic solutions to address them. This position also communicates financial support information to students, staff, and faculty to increase awareness and understanding of robust financial support services and actively connect students to a variety of resources and opportunities across the University.
