Position Overview:

This position will be a member of the College’s Shared Services Center, within the Financial Planning & Analysis Team (FP&A). This position, reporting to the Business Manager of FP&A, will be responsible for overseeing, managing, reporting, and analyzing departmental budgets within the College of Engineering and Information Technology. The position is the direct support for a range of department heads/leads within the college, specifically Department Chairs, for all financial and fiscal matters related to departmental and non-sponsored activities.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available. 

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and prepare budgets for the College and its departments.
  • Reconcile assigned accounts and create reports to be shared with Department Heads, which includes detailed notes about the accounts, available balances and variances to the budget.
  • Project future expenses for each account so stakeholders can better manage funds.
  • Review reports individually with stakeholders.
  • Review and approve transaction items which impact assigned budgets (i.e. new hires, GA contracts/tuition & health forms, contract amendments, purchases, invoices, payment requests, travel pre-approvals, travel reimbursement requests, journal entries, budget amendments, facility work order requests, etc.)
  • Prepare Ad hoc analysis as requested by leadership within the College and/or Shared Services Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related field
  • 3 years of progressive experience in payroll, budgeting, financial analysis, reconciliation, financial reporting, forecasting, and other related accounting/finance/analytical responsibilities.

  • Strong customer service focus
  • Expertise in Excel and other Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • An aptitude for applying technology to improve business processes
  • Strong organizational skills
