Position Summary:
 
The School of Social Sciences is one of the largest academic units at UCI, with over 175 faculty, 75 career staff members, 400 graduate students and 6600 undergraduate students. Social Sciences is home to 9 academic departments and our students comprise 20 percent of the entire UCI student body. Business Office team. Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Business Operations, the position is responsible for performing and reviewing financial transactions, purchasing, and reimbursements, ensuring compliance with University policies. This role involves detailed financial oversight, including expense reconciliation, advisory on financial procedures, and the maintenance of accurate financial records. The Analyst performs and reviews purchasing and reimbursements for assigned departments, conducts regular reconciliations of financial activities against the general ledger to ensure record-keeping accuracy, and prepares monthly financial reports. Additionally, the role involves providing guidance on financial policies, ensuring adherence to University policies and procedures, and collaborating with Social Sciences team members to optimize financial processes.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $26.92 - $36.64 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $26.92 - $46.36 (Hourly Rate).
 
Required:
 
  • 1-3 years of experience with Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures in a university setting, especially in the areas of accounting, purchasing and disbursements. 
  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures. 
  • Experience utilizing KFS systems for purchasing and reimbursements transactions. 
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors of various ethnic, social and educational backgrounds. 
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team. 
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to complete assignments and perform effectively and punctually in an environment with frequent interruptions, fluctuating workload and changing priorities. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, patiently and diplomatically with a diverse level of people and backgrounds. 
  • Ability to handle all Business & Finance Office matters with tact, discretion and confidentiality. 
  • Excellent skill in setting priorities to deliver high quality, professional and responsive service. 
  • Resourceful in locating and sharing appropriate information and/or solutions to problems. 
  • Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting and problem solving in non-standard, urgent, conflicting and/or unexpected circumstances. 
  • Excellent proofreading skills. 
  • Ability to maintain online files and filing systems. 
  • Ability to present information and train staff members in university policy
