FINANCIAL OFFICER, School of Engineering (SOE), to serve as a floating financial officer for units in transition. Will perform comprehensive financial management for SOE departments, labs, and centers  (DLCs); administer pre- and post-award financial activities related to the daily operation of the assigned DLC; provide support for proposals, problems, and projects related to sponsored projects and gift administration; and provide counsel and support to academic/research head, faculty, researchers, students and/or staff on financial and administrative policies and practices.  May contribute to short- to mid-term financial plans with significant impact on group, function, or DLC.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least five years’ experience in accounting or finance; knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial recordkeeping, and reporting; broad and in-depth understanding of financial principles and theories; strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) and enterprise accounting and database tools; strong financial management/forecasting, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, customer service, and oral and written communication skills; ability to follow-through on and see projects and issues through to completion, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and challenging environment; attention to detail; and receptivity to learning new business methods and computational skills PREFERRED:  experience with SAP, BrioQuery, Kuali Coeus, and Cognos; financial administration experience in an academic research environment; and MIT experience. Job #20975-8
