Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning in the Department of Radiology, the Finance Manager will be responsible for reporting and financial analysis to evaluate departmental needs and trends.  The incumbent will also assist the Director of Financial Planning with financial modeling, reconciliations and oversight. 


Responsibilities

  • Extract data from the University’s financial system (ARC) and reporting systems (Cognos, Epic) to prepare reports and provide analysis regarding RVUs, revenues, expenses, account balances, and variances in actual results to budget.
  • Produce quarterly physician P&L reports.
  • Analyze financial results of different business units and the overall financial position of the department.
  • Assist in the development of strategic business plans.
  • Reconcile hospital Joint Budget support.  Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc clinical reports as required to evaluate departmental business needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly P&Ls for meetings to review financial performance against budgeted goals; identify significant variances.
  • Serve in the annual operating and payroll budgeting process for timely and accurate completion of departmental operational budgets.
  • Process periodical budget updates in the University’s budget tool.
  • Responsible for special projects as required.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent in education and experience; plus four years of experience in an academic medical setting.  Master’s degree preferred, preferably in healthcare or finance related field.

  • Superior financial analysis skills required, including the ability to prepare detailed financial reports that include qualitative discussions of financial drivers, budgets and variances, and forward-looking implications. Necessary experience includes budget and/or other financial analysis, such as interpretation of financial statements.  Must possess knowledge of accounting principles, proficiency with Microsoft Office and expertise in Excel.  

  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter with demonstrated experience in quantitative analysis capable of working with minimal oversight to solve a problem or meet a need. Ability to work through complex issues, elevating issues appropriately to directors and core administration team. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must be able to work with complex financial models and be meticulous with quantitative detail.
