FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to collaborate with other finance staff members on pre- and post-award administration processes and work with MITEI members such as ExxonMobil, Shell, Eni, and others.  Responsibilities include supporting principal investigators (PIs) with the development of industrially-funded research project plans and administrative content for proposals; providing post-award administration support on a portfolio of PIs; monitoring the financial performance of active grants/contracts and providing regular updates and projections for PIs to verify the proper distribution of resources and use of funds; providing financial analysis and oversight and preparing reports; continually monitoring accounts to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies and requirements, including the closeout period; and reconciling accounts within the assigned portfolio. 

MITEI is MIT’s hub for energy research, education, and outreach--connecting faculty, students, and staff to develop the knowledge, technologies, and solutions that will deliver clean, affordable, and plentiful sources of energy.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED;  bachelor's degree; at least two years’ accounting/financial experience in a nonprofit or educational setting; strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work effectively under deadlines; solid understanding of federal regulations applicable to research projects and the ability to communicate these effectively; high-level of proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel; willingness to learn new business methods and computational skills; demonstrated record of assuming greater responsibility over time; good judgment and discretion with sensitive information; and ability to work independently and as a member of a productive, collaborative, and innovative team in a fast-paced and challenging environment.  PREFERRED:  MIT experience and familiarity with its systems, e.g., Kuali Coeus and SAP.  Job #21641-6
