Purpose

Prepare financial analysis and modeling related to strategic initiatives, corporate forecasting, financial projects, federal cost proposals and ad hoc data requests in a complex environment with a rapid pace of change.

Primary Functions

  •   Present findings to Department and Senior Leadership in a form that tells the story behind the analysis.

  •   Supports complex departments with multiple missions/lines of business (e.g. clinical departments).

  •   Proactively measure and report key business trends that will impact financial results.

  •   Lead ad hoc analyses (e.g. cost savings, reimbursement, etc.)

  •   Partner with departments to develop innovative solutions to solve financial pressures (cost reduction and revenue optimization).

  •   Review, interpret, analyze and make recommendations of annual and ad hoc budget submissions.

  •   Prepare and present Executive Summary for submitted budgets and monthly variance analysis & narrative that links operational trends with financial outcomes.

  •   Measure and report key business trends that will impact financial results.

  •   Provide support, training and guidance of department budgetary system.

  •   Examine, communicate, implement and resolve discrepancies between budget and finance information.

  •   Partner with departments to provide budgetary support and recommendations.

  •   Model short and long-term impact of new business initiatives

  •   Monitor initiative success and provide insight and recommendations to improve success as necessary.

  •   Model institutional long-range financial plan.

  •   Develop system enhancements to improve financial planning and analysis systems and processes.

  •   Act as a business advisor.

  •   Present findings to Department and Senior Leadership in a form that tells the story behind the analysis.

  • Nimble and efficient professional that can balance multiple priorities. Able to adapt quickly to changes in work conditions or priorities with revised or reorganized plans.
  • Ability to listen critically to solicit ideas from operational participants at all levels of the organization to develop solutions that are ultimately owned and valued by the operational end users.
  • Willingness to understand how systems and applications supporting the business processes work. Can communicate effectively with technical IT/IS staff to convey business processes and requirements. Is familiar with infrastructure set-up and how various pieces fit together.
  • Strong technical analytical skills. Mastery of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Willingness to support development and deliver training to departmental customers.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and demonstrate integrity in all interactions.
  • Desire to develop professionally and advance technically. Self-directed, self-starter.
  • Avid attention to detail with the ability to understand and integrate detail with the big-picture.
