JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut Accounting Office is seeking applications for a Financial Assistant II to perform asset-related financial record-keeping functions for the Inventory Control unit in the Accounting Office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Creates, maintains, and monitors university-wide asset financial records in the Kuali Financial System.
  • Monitors fiscal procedures for duplication, efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with required policies and regulations, making modifications as needed.
  • Prepares regular asset financial information, including data analysis and reconciliation.
  • Assists in developing and managing department/division asset financial reports.
  • May supervise the work of staff engaged in financial record-keeping functions; may train staff and assist in selection. Communicates with various departmental staff regarding Inventory Control policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports as appropriate to meet university, state, federal, and department/division requirements.
  • Prepares asset-related financial transactions and monitors the purchase of capital assets by university departments.
  • Processes capital expenditure transactions and processes all necessary paperwork, following up to resolve problems as they arise.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two to three years of responsible experience in financial record keeping, supervision, and reporting or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Sound knowledge of financial report preparation and fiscal control methods.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Experience using web-based systems and reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze and modify fiscal procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and two to four years of related experience.
  • Strong analytical, organization, and technical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Access, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) and WebFocus.
