Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Financial Analyst (Population Science) within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Financial Analyst is to provide specialized research-specific support and manage new faculties grant and contracts post administration includes various budget and finance functions related to restricted accounts and keeping track of their status.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Prepares federal and non-federal grants as it relates to budget preparation and post administration process.
  • Assist Principal Investigators in the development of all grant budgets and communication with granting agencies.
  • Analysis and review of revenues and expenses for all grants & contracts, approving transaction requests in accordance with budgets and agency regulations. In addition, reviews with Principal Investigators the results of their grant operations and recommend any corrective actions. Analyzes information system reports to ensure timely, accurate interim and final reporting of grants and contracts.
  • Functions as liaison for Principal Investigators related to questions/problems with monthly budget status reports.
  • Performs reconciliation for ongoing, interim and closeout reporting for salary, fringe, non-salary, and overhead expenditures.
  • Provides new and current faculty with information pertaining to Rutgers policy and procedures related to restricted funds.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field plus three (3) years of relevant experience in related fiscal activities.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in the maintenance and review of budgetary records, budget development, and variance analysis in a healthcare or University setting.
  • Knowledge in preparing and maintaining budgets and post administration specifically related to federal and non-federal sponsored programs.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
