JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst conducts financial analyses, develops and refines business models, and •   assists with preparing annual, quarterly, and ad-hoc reporting data for senior leadership and board of trustees. The Financial Analyst also assista with audits and analyzing existing processes to improve workflow and work efficiencies. 
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of finance and accounting principles.

Effective analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and time management skills with a high attention to detail.

Effective written and verbal communication skills to communicate to audiences at all levels of the organization, translating for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to produce and deliver succinct, compelling materials.

Proficiency in Excel and ability to learn custom ERP systems. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a business or finance discipline and at least two to four years' experience in a financial analysis role.  Knowledge of a higher educational environment is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Financial Analysis 50%

  • Conduct regular financial analysis and modeling to support regular business functions, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and decision-making processes.
  • Monitor and analyze key financial indicators such as revenue, expense, and cash flow to identify trends and variances.
  • Budget analysis through P/L creations & analyzing.
  • Articulating financials while working with pivot tables and BI functionality.
  • Data Sourcing and consolidating financial data.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and presentations to senior management, department heads, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist unit leaders with actively managing their area in terms of revenue generation and tracking current expenditures. 
  • Analyze financial and payroll discrepancies to ensure timely corrections.
  • Collaborate with colleges and other departments within the organization, including enrollment, marketing, and learner services to ensure alignment of financial goals and objectives·
  • Assist the research teams with management of funding awards, ensuring compliance with award terms and conditions.

2) Modeling and Reporting 25%

  • Lead the continued development and refinement of business models.
  • Assist with the development and creation of annual, quarterly, and ad-hoc reporting data for senior leadership and board of trustees.
  • Gather, prepare, and analyze financial reports, develop, and maintain KPI’s.
  • Advanced knowledge of Financial Concepts, Analyzing and Modeling
  • Assist with translating team goals into actionable and trackable financial metrics.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support the institute’s business operations.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform financial strategies

3) Other Duties – 25%

  • Assist with analyzing existing processes to improve workflow and work efficiencies. 
  • Occasional operational processing with AP and Procurement.
  • Assist with financial audits
  • Ensuring compliance with financial reporting laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in developing new financial analysis and reporting capabilities
  • Provide financial training and support to staff with varying degrees of financial acumen.
  • Create strong relationships with university colleagues and actively collaborate with them to help strengthen Northeastern’s global network.
  • Provide support and backup to other team members.
  • Provide support for special projects and other duties as assigned.
