As a key member of the accounting and operations team within the School of Medicine (SOM) Dean's Office, Financial Affairs Unit (FAU), the Financial Analyst III is tasked to perform high level data analysis, data validation, reconciliation, and review and approval functions.
As a lead financial analyst, he/she is responsible for providing financial support to the Dean's Office Units (7 Medical Education units and 6 Administrative units). Support duties include reviewing and advising on financial transactions, being the procurement and expense reimbursement approver, submitting payroll funding entries, completing trend and variance analysis, chartstring and speedtype management, commitments management, deficit and fund management, as well as all other duties that involve the maintenance of financial integrity. The analyst is heavily involved in and takes on a lead role in the Dean's Office fiscal year-end close and fiscal year opening processes and functions.
In addition, the analyst is responsible for coordinating and administering school-wide financial transactions, which includes the 415(m) restoration plan, integrated funding model (IFM), school level holding activities, as well as auxiliary programs. The analyst also takes on a major role in performing data validation for key Dean's Office presentations and reports that ensures the accuracy of data published and widely shared.
The analyst works closely with unit managers and staff, the FAU's budget team, SOM departments, and central campus offices. The analyst has to exhibit sound judgment, skillfully balance business demands, have the ability to resolve a wide range of issues, and establish excellent working relationships with colleagues, business partners, stakeholders, and leadership.
