What we want 

The Financial Analyst II, under direction, performs Annual Financial Reporting (AFR) functions and serves as the Interagency contact for Due To/Due From and Federal and State pass throughs for Texas A&M University and Texas A&M University-Galveston.  Assists with State Appropriation Management functions.  Performs accounting and reporting functions for White Creek Apartments, KAMU-TV, and KAMU-FM.  Prepares financial statements and other financial schedules in support of annual financial audits.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of experience in accounting or related experience including some supervisory experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Knowledge of internal controls

  • Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations in a complex environment

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting

  • Experience in higher education accounting and/or business functions

  • Experience with the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS)

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of database programs.

  • Knowledge of reconciliations

Responsibilities:

  • Annual Financial Reporting - Serve as Interagency contact for Due To/Due From and Federal and State pass throughs for Texas A&M University (Agency 711) and Texas A&M University-Galveston (Agency 718).  Coordinate w/ State of Texas Agencies & Universities to confirm pass through amounts reported on the Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA-Schedule 1A) and State Pass Through Grants (SPTR- Schedule 1B).  Reconciles SEFA and SPTR pass through confirmations to USAS. Records accrual entries to USAS and FAMIS for interagency pass throughs.  Prepares SEFA and SPTR for TAMU and TAMG.

  • State Appropriation Management - Confirm and record other interagency transfers and accruals for funds held in the state treasury: Oyster Fund for Agency 718; Hazlewood Act funding for Agencies 711 & 718.  Process intra-system AUF budget and cash transfers in FAMIS and USAS for Agencies 709, 710, 711, and 715.  Create the method of finance schedules and USAS budget entries for 710, 711, and 718. Record general revenue (GR) budgets and estimated general revenue designated (GR-D) budgets. Establish and maintain state paid benefit entries to USAS and FAMIS for GR and GR-D. Perform state paid benefit expense reconciliations for 711 and 718.

  • White Creek Apartment Accounting - Performs monthly and year-end accounting and reporting functions for White Creek Apartments, a public-private partnership with Texas A&M University.  Prepares financial statements and other financial schedules in support of the annual financial audit and work with the auditors during the audit.

  • KAMU Financial Statement Preparation & Audit Support- Performing year‐end accounting and financial reporting functions for KAMU‐TV and KAMU‐FM, Texas A&M University’s public broadcasting stations. Prepare financial statements and other financial schedules in support of the annual financial audit and work with the auditors during the audit. Prepare and submit the Annual Financial Report for KAMU‐TV and KAMU‐FM and the Station Activity Benchmarking Survey for KAMU‐TV on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s Integrated Station Information System website.
