Position Summary
The Financial Analyst, reporting to the Director, Treasury Planning & Operations (the “Director”), works as an integral member of the Director’s team and is responsible for providing analytics and reporting that support the financial decision-making and administration for the Treasury Planning & Operations Group, the Director, and the Treasurer. The Financial Analyst will also provide analytical support to other areas, such as Insurance & Risk Management and Student & Parent Loan Programs on a special projects basis.
The Financial Analyst will work with colleagues within the Director’s organization, the broader Treasury Services organization, as well as various campus partners and internal stakeholders to provide the Director, Treasurer, and members of senior leadership with timely and accurate analytics and reporting. As such, the Financial Analyst will need to develop a comprehensive understanding of the University’s strategic planning and institutional goals and how they relate to the administration and operation of areas within Treasury and vice versa. This will require the Financial Analyst to develop a very strong knowledge base of the critical functions within Treasury, to and including becoming highly proficient in utilizing proprietary models and tools and the University’s enterprise financial system (Workday), developing an in-depth understanding of the Internal Bank and the Treasurer’s Investment Pool and its components, credit and balance sheet management, educational loan programs, and analytics in support of the insurance and risk management programs, among others.
The Financial Analyst will partner with other members of the Director’s team and other internal stakeholders to produce board-level and C-suite presentation and analytical materials.


Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares materials, reporting, and analyses for use by the Treasurer and other members of leadership, senior management, and the Board and its Committees.
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the Treasurer’s Investment Pool, University’s internal bank/loan programs, University’s debt issuance process, bond compliance, among others; develop an understanding of Student and Parent Loan programs and Insurance & Risk Management.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of proprietary models and data analyses, including those designed for the Treasurer’s Investment Pool, internal bank, debt and loan programs, balance sheet and credit management, liquidity management, other ad hoc projects, among others.
  • Assists in the University’s debt issuance processes and capital market activities, as well as rating agency deliverables and debt compliance.
  • Assists the Director and the team in analyzing and determining the liquidity needs for University operations.
  • Develops strong proficiency in the utilization of the University’s enterprise financial system, Workday.
  • Supports the maintenance of the cash forecast database.
  • Develops strong proficiency in the University’s natural gas hedging program and assist in any analysis for the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and Treasurer.
  • Special Projects which may include initiatives that support the institution’s goals as assigned by the Director and Treasurer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in finance, economics, accounting or related quantitative area.
  • Higher education or corporate treasury experience.
  • Progress towards CFA or CPA.
  • Strong sense of ownership and integrity.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts
  • Ability to work successfully on complex projects with a high degree of independence and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance. Two to three years' training and experience in accounting and accounting analysis.

Salary Range
$64,700.00 - $110,500.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
