Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, serve as a Financial Analyst for FCS' Finance and Administration team by providing financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the division. Act as the primary resource for financial information and expertise for units supported. Accountable for the financial integrity of the financial statements ensuring adherence to university policy and procedures.

The Financial Analyst will work closely with the directors and management staff to budget, forecast, and prepare quarterly reports. Provide in-depth, complex financial analysis, financial presentations, analyze monthly financial statements, and reconcile general ledger deferred and reserve accounts.

Provide regular on-the-job training, guidance, advice, and counsel to other employees performing essentially the same work or related technical tasks. Responsible for cross training and job sharing with other support staff.

We Require These Qualifications:

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Two-year associate degree in accounting, finance, or business and 2-4 years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination.

  • Ability to develop complex financial models, perform appropriate data analysis, budget and forecasting, and general ledger reconciliations.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills, organization skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are required.

You Will Be a Top Candidate with Our Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is strongly preferred, in addition to five years of in-depth analytical, forecasting, and budget experience.

  • Training in financial management and cost accounting principles or equivalent experience is desired.

  • Prefer computer software proficiency and expertise, proficient in the use of MS Office Suite with a strong emphasis in Excel.

  • Experience with Cornell on-line accounting systems: OBIEE, KFS, Maximo, and EBS.
