Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a full-time Financial Aid Technician. The Financial Aid Technician is responsible to the Executive Director of Student Affairs and Financial Aid for the provision of financial aid support services.  The Financial Aid Technician will maintain student financial aid files and will work directly with students to ensure that their files are complete and current.  Maintaining secure and confidential files is a primary responsibility.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Distribute financial aid forms and other materials
  • Assist students in completing financial aid forms
  • Provide information and answer questions regarding eligibility for financial aid
  • Assist in receiving incoming calls by providing appropriate information, taking messages, and transferring calls
  • Maintain current and complete student financial aid files in a secure and confidential manner
  • Perform word processing and electronic data management tasks as required to operate the financial aid office and assist in other areas of student services
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of financial aid regulations and applicable federal and state laws and operate in compliance with them
  • Preform other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED *and* One (1) year of work related experience

Preferred Qualifications

BANNER experience and one (1) year Financial Aid /Student Affairs experience; experience with federal and state financial aid a plus
