Position Summary Information


Duties
The Financial Aid Operations Specialist reports to the Director of Student Financial Services and supports the delivery of student financial aid by providing information and assistance to current and prospective students and assists with the maintenance/management of the Financial Aid ERP software, including Banner New Aid-Year setup.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage all file transfers between Banner and ED
  • Run daily tasks to process all incoming and outgoing files
  • Package aid awards with University computing resources
  • Reconcile TEACH, DL, and Pell records monthly
  • Coordinate Transfer Monitoring process
  • Maintain student files
  • Assist Director with testing new Banner releases
  • Assist Director with Banner new year set up
  • Correspond with other educational institutions and governmental agencies via appropriate websites including SAIG, NSLDS and FAFSA
  • Analyze documentation provided by students and their families
  • Meet annual goals established by the Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services
  • Serve as a member of an integrated team dedicated to effective delivery of student financial aid
  • Maintain up to date technological skills and use efficiently in performance of job functions
  • Comply with all policies of the University
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need
  • Actively work towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers and internal faculty and staff
  • Maintain “open door” to internal and external customers
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to work practices and offers viable solutions for implementation
  • Proactively engage in problem solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people
  • Routinely practice self-monitoring by assessing self to make improvements or take corrective action to improve performance
  • Perform general office duties
  • Complete other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Microsoft Windows Applications experience required

  • Experience working in Banner
  • Above average communication skills
  • Possess a professional and pleasant demeanor
  • Must be flexible and have a cooperative work style

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
  • Three years of work experience in a financial, customer service, or college related environment
Salary Schedule
Salary Band: P20

Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.
