This position may be eligible for Hybrid Work, working remotely for up to one day per week after the initial 90 days of employment

Hourly Rate: $20.68/hr. or higher, commensurate with experience and/or education 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Financial Aid Counselor II assists prospective and current students with all matters related to acquiring and maintaining financial aid.

DUTIES

  • Completes the verification process for students; verifies that the information provided on FAFSA correctly reflects the information on the IRS Tax Transcript
  • Reviews each ISIR file to determine if it needs to be loaded into PeopleSoft for review
  • Reviews student Satisfactory Academic Plan appeals; determines if progress has been made; suspends students and removes aid if no progress is made
  • Liaises with students as necessary via email, phone, or in person to keep them up-to-date with their status
  • Runs reports and queries

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of federal and state regulations that govern financial aid eligibility in higher education and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices
  • Knowledge of relevant Department of Education websites, including COD, NSLDS. and FAA Access

Skills:

  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to use independent judgment
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
  • The individual has the discretion to walking, standing, etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
  • Must have precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must have the ability to move items of up to 15lbs
