Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities | General Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for the servicing of Financial Aid Programs at Fairmont State. This position involves counseling and advising students on the application process and eligibility standards on the federal, state, and institutional level. Provide assistance with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other requirements needed for the application, acceptance and disbursement of financial aid. Provide counseling to students and parents in person, email form and over the phone regarding financial aid eligibility, the application process, awarding and disbursement, and other financial aid areas based on federal, state and institutional policy. Assist with outgoing mailings, award letters, tracking letters, and other types of correspondence critical to the operation of the financial aid office. Award multiple types of financial aid to students and student athletes, identifying and resolving over award conflicts, working with student and parent loans. Advise students in regards to degree pursuant coursework as it pertains to aid eligibility. Verify students financial aid eligibility for federal, state and institutional programs. Speak with students interested in student employment and work study programs. Assist students regarding Satisfactory Academic Progress. Assist students and staff with Scholarship and Grant programs. Review, resolve and notify student’s of overaward situations. Participate in Recruiting Events / FAFSA / Financial Aid Outreach Programs / and Financial Aid Literacy events require occasional evenings or weekends as notified. Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned. Adhere to and comply with all relevant federal state and local laws; if assigned a State purchasing card abide by all purchasing rules and provisions and reports/balances account as required or directed; adhere to all institutional policies and guidelines including the provisions of the employee’s relevant employee handbook; adhere to and comply with relevant provisions of the WV State Ethics Act; adhere to all safety rules and provisions; report any personal accidents/injuries or accidents/injuries of assigned staff to HR by end of work day or work shift; and complete all required performance evaluations timely completely and accurately. |
