Deadline: JOB SUMMARY: Centenary University of New Jersey is seeking to fill the position of Financial Aid Counselor. The Financial Aid Counselor reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid. The Financial Aid Counselor provides financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspects of the financial aid process. This position makes necessary referrals to other student service offices. The role of Financial Aid Counselor is a critical component to the overall student experience here at Centenary University. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The University reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Counsels existing and prospective students on financial aid programs, eligibility criteria, deadlines, and application procedures Assists in resolving complex cases regarding financial aid Assists students in completing financial aid forms, when appropriate Reviews financial aid forms for completeness and accuracy Determines eligibility and awards aid accordingly Responsible for revising awards as needed Oversee the Federal Work Study Program Supervise the Federal Work Study students. Review and update Financial Aid Webpages to ensure accuracy. Process and review Unusual Circumstances/ Professional Judgement appeals. Manage the student appeals process. Certification of Private Loans Manage phone calls and Financial Aid Inbox Organize and Present Financial Aid presentations at all campus events and as needed. Present at High School nights and FAFSA filing events. Reconcile NJFAMS funds (TAG, EOF, and other NJ Grants) Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or higher required Financial aid experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate Must have effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well under deadlines and competing demands Exceptional organizational skills to maintain accurate and orderly record keeping Ability to work independently Must have excellent interpersonal skills in working with supervision, peers, students, faculty, and other departments Must have knowledge and experience with various computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office applications, integrated database systems) Experience with Colleague a plus EDUCATION: Associate degree or higher required For more information on working at Centenary, please click here.
